Cycling holiday full of contrasts
Begin your cycling tour in the charming Alpine setting of Bolzano and enjoy the gentle rolling hills of the picturesque Soave and Teroldego wine regions. Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views, relaxing moments, and delicious wine. The romantic coastal city of Venice awaits you as the grand finale – a magical place that will make this trip unforgettable!

DAY 1 – BOLZANO
Individual arrival in Bolzano. At the hotel, you will receive your travel documents and, if applicable, your rental bike. Explore the charming old town with its arcaded streets, the cathedral, and the town hall. A highlight: the world-famous “Ötzi” in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology. Enjoy the Italian atmosphere in Piazza Walther.

DAY 2 – BOLZANO – SALURN – TRENTO (APPROX. 70 KM)
The first stage leads along the Eisack and Adige rivers through South Tyrol’s orchards to Salurn. From here, you’ll be accompanied by vineyards producing Teroldego red wine. In Trento, a charming old town awaits you, complete with the cathedral square, the Neptune Fountain, and the Castello del Buonconsiglio.

DAY 3 – TRENTO – ROVERETO – MORI – RIVA DEL GARDA – PESCHIERA/DESENZANO/SIRMIONE (APPROX. 50 KM + BOAT TRIP)
You cycle along the Adige River to Rovereto and on towards Lake Garda. A stop in Mori for the famous pistachio gelato is highly recommended. After a short climb, you can enjoy the view of the lake before descending to Riva del Garda. A boat trip (included) takes you to the southern shore – to Peschiera, Desenzano, or Sirmione.

DAY 4 – PESCHIERA/DESENZANO/SIRMIONE – VERONA (APPROX. 50 KM)
The journey takes you through fertile hills dotted with peaches, melons, and vineyards to Verona – the city of Romeo and Juliet. Explore highlights such as the Arena, Juliet’s House, Castelvecchio, and the Piazza delle Erbe. In the evenings, charming cafés and restaurants invite you to linger.

DAY 5 – VERONA – VICENZA (APPROX. 70 KM)
Today’s stage leads through the hills of Monti Berici, offering beautiful views of Vicenza. The city boasts impressive buildings by the Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, including the Villa La Rotonda, the Palazzo Barbaran da Porto, and the Basilica Palladiana.

DAY 6 – VICENZA – ABANO TERME (APPROX. 35 KM)
Cycle past Venetian villas along the Bacchiglione River to Abano Terme, a famous spa town. Relax in the thermal baths or take a trip to nearby Padua.

DAY 7 – ABANO TERME – VENICE/MESTRE (APPROX. 50 KM)
You cycle through meadows and fields towards the coast until you reach Mestre, the mainland district of Venice. From there, you can easily reach historic Venice – a UNESCO World Heritage Site spread across 118 islands. Explore highlights such as the Grand Canal, St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs, and the Rialto Bridge.

DAY 8 – VENICE/MESTRE
Individual return journey. Or you can extend your trip by another night in Venice/Mestre.

The route is flat to gently rolling; the only challenging section is the Monti Berici. The first two stages are primarily on cycle paths, while south and east of Lake Garda, the route mostly follows farm tracks and minor roads. There are short sections on moderately busy roads. The route is almost entirely paved.

FURTHER INFORMATION

You will receive your rental bike (if booked) at your starting hotel in Bolzano and return it to your final hotel in Venice/Mestre. The bikes are equipped with a saddlebag, and you will also receive a handlebar bag with a map pocket, a pump, a repair kit, and a lock per room. You will need to bring your own bicycle helmet. Parking options in Bolzano: Parking garage approx. €10-25 per car/day (payable on site). Advance reservation not possible. Dogs are not allowed. The nearest airports are in Verona, Venice and Treviso. The Bolzano train station is located near the starting hotel. There are good train connections from Venice back to Bolzano.
